The Maldives have long held a reputation as one of the world’s most luxurious destinations, reserved solely for the cashed-up.

But now, holidaymakers can journey to the island paradise for just $200 thanks to a bargain-basement sale from a budget airline.

Maldives bargain

Scoot is behind the deal which allows passengers to fly to more than 20 destinations for less than $200 as part of an offer running until next week.

Included in the hot spots on offer are Singapore, Hong Kong, Phuket, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpar and Denpasar.

However, those hoping to visit the Maldives must take advantage of the offer by travelling by October 26.

According to the brand’s Chief Executive, Lee Lik Hsin, the move was made possible thanks to a “the removal of payment processing fees”.

“In order to pass on savings to our customers as our costs came down, we have since March 2018 progressively removed payment processing fees in selected markets,” he said.

“Now, we are ready to do away with it globally. We hope this gives our customers better value and more reasons to escape the ordinary with us.”

And while a jaunt to the Maldives is no doubt a tempting offer, travellers can also skip over to Singapore for even less.

Flights to the culture capital start from $129 from Perth, $159 from Gold Coast or $169 from Sydney or Melbourne with the offer running until Monday, September 30.
