The in-flight sleeping trick that can help you dodge jet lag

Travelling the world is nice but the jet lag that comes with it, well that’s not so nice.

Sometimes it doesn’t matter what you do on the plane to avoid it, you’re inevitably left lying in bed at 3am with your eyes wide open.

However, flight attendants have now revealed that there are actually some tips and tricks you can take onboard to help you avoid jet lag.

It turns out, the angle you have your seat at can make a huge difference to how you recover after your flight.

Andrew Lawrence, president of the Chiropractors Association of Australia previously revealed to The Sun, that people shouldn’t recline their seat back the whole way, just slightly angle it.

He also recommends passengers put a cushion right at the base of their spine to alleviate any pressure on their lower back.

There are of course some other ways you can try to beat the jet lag, with time zones playing a massive part in that.

According to study author and researcher in the Department of Psychology at the University of Surrey, Cristina Ruscitto, eating is related to the circadian rhythms of our body.

“[The idea is] that you readjust by eating in line with local time ― not just sleeping on local time,” she explains.

“Eating regularly provides information to the circadian system, telling the body to be active.”

This, of course, means that you will have to turn down the food and booze when the flight attendants come along with the trolley but whether you think it might be worth it is up to you in the end.
