The film, which is based on the novel by Iain Reid, focuses on a couple living on a remote farm in 2065, whose lives are upended by the arrival of a stranger (Aaron Pierre).
The first trailer teases an intriguing story, as the stranger tells the couple: "Do you want to live mundane lives, or do you want to be part of something special and unique?"
He proposes an offer for only Junior (Mescal) to live in space, and for a robot to replace him for his wife Hen (Ronan), as tension clearly mounts.
The full synopsis for the Prime Video film reads: "Hen and Junior farm a secluded piece of land that has been in Junior's family for generations, but their quiet life is thrown into turmoil when an uninvited stranger (Pierre) shows up at their door with a startling proposal."
The movie is further described as "a haunting exploration of marriage and identity set in an uncertain world", with "mesmerising imagery and persistent questions about the nature of humanity (and artificial humanity) bring the not-too-distant future to luminous life".
Foe has been directed and co-written by Garth Davis, with a limited cinema release for later this year on October 6.
The trailer comes after the release of a new look at Mescal's upcoming movie All of Us Strangers, which will see him star opposite the likes of Andrew Scott, Claire Foy and Jamie Bell. The movie follows two men who live in the same tower block in London as they strike up a friendship.
Foe will be released in selected cinemas on October 6; a streaming date on Prime Video is yet to be announced.
