Selfies Are Banned at Kim Kardashian's 'Selfish' Book Signing

The queen of selfies, Kim Kardashian, is not allowing selfies at her NYC book signing.

It’s ironic, considering that her new book Selfish is a glossy coffee table book highlighting almost 10-years worth of her own snaps.

While the ban is probably meant to keep the overflowing line moving (fans were camped out overnight), it will be interesting to see if Kardashian’s handlers will be able to enforce it.

After all, despite the rule banning guests from sharing social media from inside the 2015 Met Ball on Monday night, Kardashian posted multiple pics, and one actual selfie.

It’s a bold move, considering most celebrity guests stuck to the edict handed down by Vogue editrix Anna Wintour.

Kardashian’s new book visually documents her rise to fame through her personal pics.

From revealing snaps of her ample curves, to shots with her celebrity friends, to intimate family photos with her famous siblings, husband Kanye West, and baby North - you see her transformation from fame-chaser to paparazzi target.

The pictures include a gorgeous one of Kardashian trying on her custom Givenchy wedding gown at the designer's Paris atelier.

With the book, Kardashian (and her publisher Rizzoli) is trying to make a statement that selfies are more than just casual photos, but worth highlighting as art.

In Kardashian’s eyes, they are a way of documenting her life and connecting with fans.

Her selfies have earned her 31 million followers (and counting), unprecedented fame, and millions in endorsement deals.

While the pictures fool fans into thinking they are seeing her real life and connecting with her, it’s really all calculated PR.
