The Secret Behind Bella Hadid's Daring Cannes Dress

Bella Hadid's stylist has revealed exactly how she pulled off that incredibly sexy Cannes red dress.

The whole world was left pondering just how Bella managed to maintain her dignity when she stepped out last week at The Unknown Girl (La Fille Inconnue) premiere in Cannes, wearing nothing more than a sheath of Alexandre Vauthier red satin.

Well now we know, as her stylist revealed just how Bella avoided any Marilyn Monroe skirt moments to Vanity Fair - and it was nothing more than a humble bodysuit.

Bella stunned the world when she stepped out in this stunning red silk dress last week.

"The dress has a built-in silk bodysuit. Top-stick [tape] is always a good idea. Practice makes perfect," Elizabeth Sulcer said.

The simplistic dress had a thigh-high split, tiny spaghetti straps and was completely backless, however Sulcer was confident nothing would be exposed.

"You have to consider everything. A fitting is not the same as wearing the dress. Bella is smart and confident, and we knew she could wear that dress," she said.

"We knew we wanted to create something really beautiful and iconic in collaboration with Alexandre Vauthier. He is an amazing friend and talent in the industry. Every aspect of the dress was planned."

While Rita Ora wore the same creation to the MTV Movie Awards in 2014, we think Bella's take on the dress has more of a lasting impression - think Elizabeth Hurley's safety-pin dress and Angelina Jolie's split gown.

Last week Bella made her Fashion Week Australia debut, wowing the Sydney fashion scene with her appearance.

The 19-year-old model appeared exclusively for Melbourne brand Misha Collection in Carriageworks to launch Misha Gold, a new premium collection from the brand.

The younger sister of fellow model Gigi Hadid both opened and closed the show.
