Miss Universe Contestants In Uproar After Being Entered In Miss World Competition

Miss Universe Australia hopefuls have been left angered by the news they’ve been entered into the Miss World pageant instead – without being notified.

The confusion supposedly stems from the fact that former Miss Universe National Director Deborah Miller - who once looked after the Miss Australia pageant hopefuls - no longer has the rights to the competition, and has taken over Miss World instead.

Yes, there’s a difference between the two pageants, and it’s vast according to expert Peter Sereno, who told SMH: “Miss World is all about charity and raising funds for Variety while Miss Universe started as a bikini competition.”

Miss Universe is universally accepted as the more superior pageant because of its world accolade.

Those who win tend to go on to have long-standing careers in television or modelling (take Jennifer Hawkins for example), while those who lose don’t always miss out on the spotlight (just ask Miss Colombia).

While Miss World definitely holds interest on a local level, it can’t compete with the Miss Universe prizes, or, we're sad to say, Donald Trump’s backing.

As of today, the official Miss Universe Australia Twitter page still lists Miller as its national director.
