Reese Witherspoon bans black from her fashion line

Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon has banned the colour black from her successful clothing line.

The 39-year-old, who launched her Southern-inspired label Draper James back in May, claimed she sticks to traditional Southern colours and believes that why her line has been so in demand.

Reese said she always sticks to certain style rules and claims that Southern women are always dressed before 10am.

"We dress to sit on airplanes and to sit at a theatre, nobody wears sweat pants to got to dinner," she said.

"We also do a lot with bright colour and patterns.

"We don't do black, our black is navy.

"People wear black to funerals.

"I didn't wear black at all when I was young and was only allowed to buy my first pair of black pants when I was 15."



Reese, whose line sold out within hours of launching, said: "I work with a design team three times a month going through different collections, refining the samples, working on fit and colour and trying to make the line cohesive."

"We look at what's wearable and what's selling.

"A lot of my work is traveling to factories and places like Georgia and North Carolina and encouraging people."

On Friday, Draper James released a statement announcing that it had raised $10 million in investment funding.
