Fans poured into the comment thread with adoration for her journey, dubbing her a "queen," a "legend," and dropping more sweet notes in honor of the milestone occasion.
While one pointed out that she "changed the game," another, instead, insisted Venus "changed the world. Thank you for all you gave to tennis and sports and our country."
"I remember that moment, we literally grew up seeing both of you dominating the world like never before from a women sports," a third recollected of the standout star.
Several more added heartfelt comments, like a few that read, "The game wouldn't be the same without you in it. Thank you, V," "That’s amazing! Time sure flies," and "You are an icon. You have inspired so many of us. I can’t believe I got to grow up watching you and Serena dominate the game."
"Loved watching you. Your court coverage and determination were awesome," someone else confirmed.
After going pro at 14, Venus became the first unseeded player in the Open Era to reach a Grand Slam final at the US Open in 1997, according to the Olympics. With four gold medals and one silver, she is the most decorated tennis player in Olympic history, ahead of Serena.
