Fans at NFL games will be required to wear masks this season

NFL fans at games this season will be required to wear face coverings, the league announced Wednesday.

League spokesman Bryan McCarthy made the announcement on Twitter.

The announcement arrived shortly after the Atlanta Falcons announced that they plan to have up to 20,000 fans in the stands for home games.

Other teams making announcements on fans

Meanwhile, the New York Jets and Giants have announced that they won’t have fans, while the Los Angeles Rams will either have fans in a limited capacity or won’t have fans at all for their planned SoFi Stadium debut. Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis doesn’t anticipate fans at home games for the team’s Nevada debut.

The league is still moving forward as if the season will go on as planned. But there remains the chance that the COVID-19 pandemic will force the season to be postponed or canceled as it continues to worsen across the United States.
