Your Formal Make-Up: Sorted!

Been Pinterest-ing for months and still can’t decide on your beauty look for the big night? We hit up makeup maestro Napoleon Perdis for his top picks (so you can stop your search right here).

LOOK 1: DEFINED LINER
"An easy way to create an impactful look is with defined liner – quite often you won’t need anything else on your eyes."
1. Apply mascara, then, starting from the outer corner of the lower lashline, sketch on your wings with liquid liner.
2. Next, line along your lashline (from the outer edge going towards the inner corner of your eye), stopping two thirds of the way along.
3. Color in the outer corner of the upper liner where the liner and lashes meet to complete the look.
Try: NAPOLEON PERDIS Mesmer-Eyes Mascara, $39, NAPOLEON PERDIS Matte Eye Ink, $28.

LOOK 2: SMOKY EYES
"Always an event favourite, I prefer to use modern shades of brown, grey, or silver, and add a subtle metallic kick for a fresh feel."
1. Scribble an eye pencil in your chosen colour all over the mobile lid (the part that moves) and your upper and lower lash lines, keeping it most intense at the lashes.
2. Take a medium-sized brush and blend the pencil over the lid and into the socket (don’t go above the crease) creating definition and a smoky base.
3. Add an extra kick of intensity by tapping a small amount of matching powder shadow over the top, then line the waterline with black pencil.
Try: NAPOLEON PERDIS Eye Pencil in Brown Sugar, $28; NAPOLEON PERDIS Loose Dust in Copper Element, $35; NAPOLEON PERDIS Eye Pencil in Onyx Factor, $28.

LOOK 3: COLOUR WASH
"The key to this shadow is keeping it soft so it doesn't overwhelm the overall look. Try it with light and dark purples, golds, and pastels."
1. Prep lids by dabbing on a swipe of concealer for a clean base, then set with a small amount of face powder to ensure shadow stays put.
2. Using a soft contouring brush, load up your desired shadow and sweep across the eyelid and into the socket until you reach the desired intensity.
3. Use a smaller, firmer eye brush and apply the same shadow just at the lashline for added drama.
Try: NAPOLEON PERDIS The One Concealer, $39; NAPOLEON PERDIS 16b Contour Brush, $32; NAPOLEON PERDIS Color Disc in High Voltage Violet, $29.

LOOK 4: BOLD LIP STAIN
"A modern take on the classic bold pout is a lip stain - it has the same impact, but is less structured and has an I-did-this-myself feel."
1. Sweep a little foundation over lips to even out your natural lip tone and keep the lipstick you put on top true to its actual shade.
2. Swipe some lipstick onto your middle finger and, while pouting, tap it onto lips for a natural effect. Repeat, for more intensity.
3. Line lips last to perfect lip shape and keep lipstick in place. Lightly tap powder to the lips to fuse the lipstick for an even more natural effect.
Try: NAPOLEON PERDIS Stroke Of Genius Foundation $60; NAPOLEON PERDIS De Vine Goddess Lipstick in Aphrodite, $35; NAPOLEON PERDIS Lip Pencil in Rococo Red, $28.
