The weather is still warm outside (seriously, #sweating), but we’re already lusting after the wintery looks that sashayed down last night’s runway at Myer’s AW15 Launch.

Sleek flares, sharp white suits and glittery gowns were standouts, but top of the list for beauty ed Lisa was the ‘70s-inspired makeup created by Napoleon Perdis (think: lotsa lashes and angular eyeliner paired with radiant skin). “The inspo came from the wide-eyed beauty that icons from the era, like Jane Birkin and Cher, embodied so effortlessly,” said global makeup artist for the brand, Kate Squires.

The team relied on nourishing skincare to create luminous complexions (the star players: Auto Pilot Hydrating Milk Cleanser and Auto Pilot Moisture Mist), finishing off with sheer foundation and creamy luminisers for a healthy finish.

"Going into cooler weather, it’s a really nice contrast to have a dewy highlight on the top of cheekbones – it’s not a typically wintery look," said Kate.

Eyes were contoured with taupe shadow and cool-toned pink cream highlighter, before angular liner was applied to both upper and lower lashlines. Mascara was next, followed by falsies (Zinnia on top and Cherry Blossom on the bottom) to enhance the doll-like effect.

A mix of rose and bronze luminzers from the versatile Light Switch Luminizer Palette were buffed into lips, followed by a swipe of tinted lip balm (Auto Pilot Tinted Lip Balm in Lily) for an almost-nude finish.

The ‘70s theme continued with models sporting swishy, one-length hair, created by Kevin Murphy’s team. Headed up by co-hair directors James Nicholson and Wade Blackford, stylists concentrated on creating authentic-looking sheen and movement. “The focus was natural shine and making it look effortless so the hair didn’t appear overworked,” said James.

Again, condition was key, with stylists using hydrating Kevin Murphy washes and rinses to maximize moisture pre-styling. Hair was then spritzed with Anti.Gravity.Spray for a smooth finish. “It contains Manuka honey which, when heated up, gives the hair a really believable polish,” said James.

Next, stylists added in top-quality extensions for length and volume and to knock out any layers, before winding hair around hot tongs (going away from the face), for a Farrah Fawcett-esque effect.

It may not be winter yet, but there’s nothing stopping you from pulling on a faux fur jacket, setting the AC to 16 and getting a head start on the ‘70s revival.
