Jared Leto lops off his signature locks

Jared Leto may have just lost himself the title of the best hair in Hollywood after he posted a snap of someone taking a pair of scissors to his ponytail.

"I miss my beard already," the 43-year-old wrote alongside the shot.

He followed it up with a second shot of his clean-shaven face, writing, "...#gone!".

Fans are mourning the loss of his ombre mane, which rose to stardom during last year's award's season.

"Nooooooo oh noooooo," wrote one user, whilst another added, "I'm devastated".

The dramatic new 'do is for the Oscar winner's new role as the Joker in Suicide Squad alongside Will Smith and Margot Robbie.

The film's director Jared and film's director David Ayer had been teasing fans that a change was coming.

"Something will happen. Tomorrow. #skwad," David wrote on Twitter.
