At the TCA panel for Two and a Half Men in California, the newly single star, 33, revealed that he finally cut his shaggy locks and shaved off his facial hair. One remnant from last year: His wedding band, which remained on his finger despite the infamous end of his marriage to Demi Moore late last year.
Kutcher's clean-shaven new look is "related to the show, completely," he said at the panel. "Tune in Monday." See more photos of Ashton's new look.
"I'm sure there will be people now that I've cut my hair and shaved my beard that want me to have long hair and a beard," added the star, who was married to Moore, 49, for six years before they confirmed their split in late November following his affair with Sara Leal.
The actor – who replaced sacked Charlie Sheen in the ninth series of the sitcom – is keen to reprise his role as billionaire Walden Schmidt in the comedy for second season, but admitted he was signed up to the show on a “test deal”.
He told ‘Access Hollywood’: "I’m having a lot of fun doing the show, working with these guys and would be interested in coming back. The deal that we structured for the show is kind of a test deal, ‘Can we get the show up? Can we get it going?’
"The show is outperforming the numbers from before I was here, and so I think people are responding to it, and, for me having a show that people like and people want more of, that’ll dictate my decision."
He said: "I've never probably in my 13 years in show business received more phone calls and emails from people congratulating me on this job."
Despite his personal turmoil, Kutcher added that he's "had a blast" on the hit show. "Since I stopped doing That 70s Show, I always wanted to go back and do television."
