You may have heard of the Havaianas Thong Challenge before – it’s only one of the nation’s most iconic events held every Australia Day for the past eight years!The challenge is to set a new world record for the longest line of giant inflatable Havaianas joined in the water. The record for last year is currently held by Cottesloe, WA, with 2,088 participants. Will Bondi take out the title for 2013?

Sydney-siders are encouraged to join in on the fun on January 26 at Bondi Beach and help raise funds for Nippers across the country. Spending a summer’s day lounging on a giant inflatable thong in the water and helping a great cause, what could be better?

Head to to register yourself and friends! Registration costs $25 and every participant gets a free giant Havaianas inflatable thong worth $49.95.
