Beyoncé and her husband Jay Z welcomed a baby girl, on Sunday morning (7.01.12 in the US). The little one's arrival coming via scheduled C-section, multiple sources confirmed to E! News, who broke the news.
The R'n'B superstars have already named her, Blue Ivy Carter. With Beyonce's BFF Gwyneth Paltrow tweeting, "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already."
Friend and music mogul Russell Simmons was among the first to celebrate the arrival, tweeting the new parents: "congrats to my good friends Beyonce and Jay-Z."
Rihanna gave the baby a warm welcome, tweeting: "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih."
Reports surfaced over New Year’s weekend that she had given birth to a baby girl named Tiana May, after reports of the New York hospital having an entire floor hired out for an "A-list arrival", but they were shot down by Bey’s sister Solange on Twitter.
Beyoncé memorably revealed that she was pregnant onstage at the MTV Video Music Awards in August. Surprising, given the couple kept it a "secret" from the public when they were dating, and married (public records revealed they had tied the knot in 2008).
Close friend Kanye West has been honoured as the babies god-father.
