Falcons to allow 10,000 to 20,000 fans at games in 2020, will follow social distancing guidelines

The Atlanta Falcons intend to operate with 10,000 to 20,000 fans at games in 2020. The team released a statement Wednesday announcing its plans.

In that statement, the Falcons said the team will follow local, state and CDC social distancing guidelines. Because of that, fans will be required to wear a mask at all times when they are in the stadium.

In an email Wednesday, the team asked season-ticket holders to declare whether they would like to attend games this season. If fans opt in, the team has asked them to rank the Falcons’ first four home games. The team will wait to ask about the final four home games in case the situation changes.

Season ticket holders have the option to apply payments toward 2021, use their current balance on 2020 games or receive a refund for money they already paid.

A few NFL teams have announced their attendance plans for the 2020 season. The New York Giants and New York Jets are among the franchises that won’t host fans this year. The Philadelphia Eagles and Los Angeles Rams may receive approval to host fans, but it depends on their local governments.

Every team that allows fans in 2020 will require fans to wear a face covering, the league announced. In a statement Tuesday, the Rams said fans would likely have to sign a waiver in order to attend games in 2020.
