Ezekiel Elliott takes aim at critics on Twitter: 'Put some RESPECT on my name'

Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott knows he’s one of the best running backs in football. That shouldn’t really be an argument. Since Elliott entered the league, he’s put up Pro Bowl production nearly every season.

But at least one offensive coach disagrees with that assessment, ranking Elliott 11th at the position, according to ESPN. Not only that, but that coach doesn’t think Elliott looks strong anymore.

The coach criticized Elliott for not breaking off big runs, and said Elliott looks “like he’s about 60 to 70 percent of what he was.”

Elliott, 24, wasn’t happy about that. He took aim at that criticism, urging others to do their homework if they are going to tear down his game.

In a surprising twist, Elliott ended his rant on a positive note, saying he appreciates that he’s held to a high standard.

It’s tough to argue against Elliott’s points. Even in a world where all the offensive coach’s criticisms were true, rushing for 1,357 yards and 12 touchdowns speaks volumes. The 11th-best running back in football can’t do that every single season. Elliott can — and has.

Elliott is poised for another big season in 2020. While another 1,300-yard season probably won’t convince that offensive coach that Elliott is still elite, the rest of the league already knows that’s the case.
