'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition' Designer Eduardo Xol Dead at 58 Following Reported Attack

Eduardo Xol, an actor, musician and TV designer best known for his appearance on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, has sadly died. He was 58.

Xol died at the Desert Regional Medical Center on Friday, Sept. 20, ten days after he was seriously injured in a reported stabbing, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Xol is said to have been discovered by the Palm Springs Police Department in his home after the alleged attack, during which he is said to have called authorities for help, TMZ reports.

34-year-old Richard Joseph Gonzales from Cathedral City has since been arrested in connection with Xol's stabbing and subsequent death.

In a statement provided to TMZ, Xol's family said, "We are heartbroken at the tragic loss of our beloved Eduardo Xol."

"We know that his kindness has touched the lives of so many. We ask for that kindness returned now allowing our privacy to be respected as we process our grief," the family stated. "In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made in Eduardo’s name to the Lupus Foundation of America as he spent so much of his life in the service of others."

Xol was most known for appearing as the designer on 9 seasons of ABC's original Extreme Makeover: Home Edition series starring Ty Pennington.

In addition to his work on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, Xol also worked on several Latin American projects, including film, TV, and music video appearances.

Xol, who studied theater at UCLA, was also a talented musician, playing both the keyboard and percussion.

He released his first book, Home Sense, in April 2007, before following up with his second, Extreme Entertaining Made Simple, which published in the fall of 2008.
