Dan Webb has finally lifted the lid on just how much influence Married at First Sight producers had on his and Jessika Power’s relationship’s trajectory, just days after their very public split.
In an emotional interview obtained exclusively by Yahoo Lifestyle, the reality TV star revealed just how strongly he felt for his onscreen love interest – even after the cameras stopped rolling.
“The producers never made us stay together, no. I was fully invested in Jess and I wanted something with her,” he said.
“But I’m not sure she can reciprocate the same answer that I’m given, but for me I was falling head over heels for her daily.
“Looking back now at all the way it’s come out on TV, I feel like a fool…I’m absolutely gutted by what she’s done.”
The teary-eyed admission follows the pair’s whirlwind romance and breakup which began when they were both married to other people – namely Tamara Joy and Mick Gould – while on the program.
Dan, a 35-year-old single dad from the Gold Coast, told Yahoo Lifestyle of the split on Friday, a move he said was partially triggered by Jess’ flirty proposition towards Nic Jovanovic, which was aired to the cast during the show’s finale.
“Me and Jess have split, let’s get that straight. We have broken up,” Dan said.
“There’s allegations coming out that we’re still together. She’s saying we’re still together. We are not together.”
Visibly emotional, the reality star admitted “I had trust issues throughout our relationship”, and rewatching the finale footage brought back a lot of emotions.
“It was quite a stressful night actually,” he explained, referring to last Monday night.
“Seeing all that back, played back on TV, just brought back the first reason why I broke up with her at the start.”
Dan also expressed regret for cheating on MAFS wife Tamara Joy with Jess.
“You live and learn… I have a lot of regret for some of the decisions I’ve made,” he confessed.
“The feeling is regret about ever meeting Jess.”
