Eva Longoria reveals shocking $50 truth behind red carpet look
Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria has revealed the shocking cost of the dress she flaunted on her first Cannes Film Festival red carpet back in 2005.
As this year's event gets underway, the actress shared that her stunning gold knit gown cost around just $50.
Eva told PEOPLE magazine she attended the festival as a breakout star from the popular Desperate Housewives series and had just bought the dress from a store on Melrose Avenue in LA.
"I was like, I'll just wear this one, this knit gold, that feels right," Eva said of the moment 17 years ago.
Shocked by the response to the dress, Eva added she was confused when people kept asking what designer label she was wearing.
"I was like, What do you mean? It's mine," she said.
"Everybody just loved the dress, and I was like, it's just from Melrose!"
Eva wowed fans on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet again on May 17, this time wearing a stunning black dress with a beaded bodice from designer Alberta Ferretti.

She revealed to PEOPLE however it was not the look she originally had planned for the event and it was a last-minute decision as her first dress wasn't altered in time. It was a choice, however, she did not regret.
"I mean, it was so spectacular," Eva told the magazine. "I was like, yes, let's do that one."
Celebrities from all over the world descended on the red carpet for the Cannes premiere of the highly anticipated sequel to the 1986 epic, Top Gun: Maverick.
The film’s glamorous co-stars, Jennifer Connelly and Tom Cruise, led the charge on the red carpet in the French Riviera posing for photos and meeting fans along the way.
Eva dazzled again when she attended the Top Gun: Maverick screening on May 18 wearing a disco ball-style dress by Cristina Ottaviano.
The column style featured an off-the-shoulder neckline, which already seems to be the 'It' trend at this year’s film festival, and several embellished mosaic-style silver tiles.
