Erling Haaland leads Player of the Season nominees as Arsenal dominate Young Player list
Manchester City star Erling Haaland heads the nominees for Premier League Player of the Season as Arsenal dominate the Young Player candidates.
The striker has enjoyed a remarkable debut season in England, breaking the goals record for a single Premier League campaign with 36 and counting, and still has Dixie Dean's all-competitions record of 60 in his sights. Team-mate Kevin De Bruyne also makes the list.
Haaland is the runaway favourite to add to his Football Writers' Award, which he won in a landslide, and could also be named Young Player of the Year, with Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard also up for both awards.
The Gunners pair are considered Haaland's nearest rivals, having played a key role in an unexpected Arsenal title challenge, which remained alive until just a few days ago.
Gabriel Martinelli joins his Arsenal team-mate's on the young player nominee list, along with Newcastle pair Alexander Isak and Sven Botman and Brighton pair Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister.
Newcastle are also represented on the Player of Season list with Kieran Trippier, who has been a key experienced head as the Saudi-backed club close in on Champions League qualification for the first time in 20 years.
The senior nominees are rounded out by Tottenham's Harry Kane and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford.
Kane has scored a remarkable 26 league goals to date this season despite Spurs enduring one of the worst seasons in recent memory. He also broke the club's all-time goalscoring record and become England's record goalscorer.
Rashford has returned to form this season after a tough previous campaign, notching 16 goals as United also target a Champions League return, along with a FA Cup win after claiming the League Cup a few months ago.
