So, ‘It Ends With Us’ Made More Than $100 Million Amid Reported Drama
It Ends With Us has blown up at the box office, pulling in more than $100 million—even with all the alleged drama swirling around the cast. Adapted from Colleen Hoover's novel of the same name, the movie’s success shows just how much power BookTok holds. According to The Hollywood Reporter, It Ends With Us earned $68.9 million in the U.S. and $46.6 million globally—making a total of $115.5 million (!!!) in the first week of its release (at the same time Blake Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds' movie Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters, JFYI).
The success comes amid reports that co-stars and producers, Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, had some tension while filming the movie. A source recently dished to Us Weekly about their on-set dynamic, saying, “There were two camps on the film—team Blake and team Justin. This creative struggle set the tone for the negative experience behind the scenes and grew into them not speaking anymore.”
The film was made through Justin's production company, Wayfarer Studios, which means crew members and extras reported to him on set. The Us Weekly insider revealed that he felt “hurt and sidelined” by Blake as she allegedly made changes to her wardrobe and the script “often without consulting Justin or his team.” Production sources also told TMZ that Blake allegedly hired her own editor and had Ryan Reynolds do “last-minute rewrites on the script.” Because of this, the Us Weekly source added that Justin “was made to feel that his vision wasn’t as important as Blake’s,” and that their differences “stifled the creativity on set.”
Despite reports of behind-the-scenes drama between Blake and Justin, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's It Ends With Us made big bucks at the box office as their rumored dynamic added some extra buzz around the film. And, in true Don't Worry Darling fashion, I may have to rush to a theater and see how it all turned out for myself. 👀
