We were teased with the idea that The Bachelor Nick Cummins might actually propose to the final lady who stole his heart after we saw the rugby star holding a massive diamond ring in promo clips leading up to the finale.
Yet it was heartbreak for us all when the Honey Badger made the shocking decision to reject both Brittany Hockley and Sophie Tieman and instead walk away alone into the distance assumably with the all-important ring left in his pocket.
However, the team at Larsen Jewellery – who worked closely with Nick to design it – have confirmed the ring has been returned and will soon be donated to charity.
While the organisation is yet to be chosen, in their post to Instagram the company stood behind Nick’s decision and wished both Nick and runners-up Sophie and Brittany all the best.
“Giving a bespoke ring whether it be a commitment, promise or engagement ring, is a very significant and important statement in any relationship, and certainly not something to be taken lightly,” the company posted.
“We respect the decision that Nick has made. The ring has been safely delivered back to us this morning and we plan to donate it to charity. We wish Britt, Sophie and Nick all the happiness in the world and look forward to following their journeys to find love.”
Senior Larsen Jeweller Kate Reid previously told Yahoo Lifestyle, “Nick was extremely enthusiastic about the design process with our team, wanting the ring to encompass the emotional and spiritual journey that he has been through during the show.”
Kate also added that his interest in spirituality and gemstones influenced the ring’s design.
“Nick is deeply spiritual and invested in the power of gemstones and people’s individual energy, so these were elements which he wanted to incorporate into the ring,” Kate explains.
“The custom-made 18ct rose and white gold ring is set with a stunning 6.75ct rectangular cushion cut Malaya garnet, accentuated by two trilliant cut diamonds,” she revealed. “There are also fourteen round, brilliant cut diamonds which evenly border the trilliant diamonds.”
