Emmys: Jeremy Allen White Wins Best Actor in a Comedy Series for The Bear
The Bear star Jeremy Allen White has gotten a resounding “Yes, chef!” from Emmy voters, winning the 2023 trophy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.
At Monday night’s ceremony, White triumphed over fellow nominees Bill Hader (Barry), Jason Segel (Shrinking), Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building) and reigning category champion Jason Sudeikis (Ted Lasso).

“I’m so proud, I’m so full of gratitude to be standing in front of you all,” White said in accepting his trophy. “I love the show so much. It gave me passion and set a fire in me.”
White’s Emmy victory comes just days after he snagged his second consecutive Golden Globe win for Male Actor in a Television Series (Musical or Comedy). But whereas this month’s Golden Globe honored The Bear‘s second season on Hulu, White’s Emmy was awarded for the show’s first season, which dropped in June 2022; Season 2 fell just outside of this year’s Emmy eligibility window.
The Bear‘s freshman outing was well-represented elsewhere in the 2023 Emmy nominations, including nods for supporting actor Ebon Moss-Bachrach, supporting actress Ayo Edebiri and a nomination for the show in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.
