Emma Stone Gets to Live Out Her Dream of Appearing on “Jeopardy!” — but with Stephen Colbert
The 'Poor Things' actress recently revealed that she applies to be on the game show every year
Superfan Emma Stone's Jeopardy! dreams came true thanks to Stephen Colbert.
After Stone, 35, previously revealed that she has applied to be on the game show every year but hasn't been successful, Colbert, 59, surprised her with a Jeopardy!-style quiz as she appeared on Tuesday's episode of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Colbert revealed that he had some Late Show or Ed Sullivan Theater-themed questions at the ready to see if the Poor Things actress has what it takes to appear on the show.
Stone laughed, "Oh, boy. Now you're going to understand why I haven't gotten on the show."

"Emma Stone, welcome to Jeopardy! First question, Stephen Colbert is such a fan of this author's work, he aired his concerns with Peter Jackson about the Elves of Mirkwood," Colbert, who had his band play a version of the Jeopardy! theme tune for the segment, questioned.
The La La Land star answered correctly, "Who is, the author of Lord of the Rings... Tolkien. Who is Tolkien?"
Elsewhere in the segment, Colbert gave the clue, "It was rumored that the crime rate dropped dramatically during their February 9, 1964 appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show."
Stone correctly guessed, "Who are The Beatles?"
"This singer's hip gyrations on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1957 were not shown because they were deemed too sexual," Colbert then asked as Stone correctly answered: "Who was Elvis Presley?"
Colbert — who pointed out the questions had all actually appeared on Jeopardy! — then ended the segment with a question about Stone's Poor Things , which she got wrong.
"On January 30, 2024, Emma Stone appeared on The Late Show in support of her outstanding performance and Oscar nomination for this film," Colbert stated.
"What is... being here with you tonight?" Stone jokingly replied. Colbert insisted he was looking for Poor Things while the actress laughed and put her head in her hands.

Elsewhere in the interview, Stone revealed why she doesn't want to appear on Celebrity Jeopardy! as a contestant.
"You know that you applied, you took the quiz, you got on the show through actually having the brains to be on the show," the star insisted.
"Not that Celebrity Jeopardy! people don't have the brains, because I've seen some really impressive candidates. However, I just want to know that I passed the test. This might be because I didn't really graduate from high school and I didn't go to college, and I like knowing I passed the test," Stone added.
"This is my degree," she joked.
Stone's latest Jeopardy! comments come after she said she'd spent quite a bit of time preparing to one day be a contestant on the show during an appearance on Variety's Awards Circuit podcast earlier this month.
"I watch it every single night, and I mark down how many answers I get right. I swear, I could go on Jeopardy!" she insisted.
