Em Rusciano has had the last laugh as the newest radio ratings have been released.
Following backlash over her explosive comments on the podcast Wilosophy with Wil Anderson, the 39-year-old and her co-hosts, Ed Kavalee and Grant Denyer, have seen a boost in popularity.
Interestingly enough, KIISFM’s Kyle and Jackie O, who have held the top spot for brekkie radio in Sydney for years, lost as many listeners as the HIT network gained, proving that no matter what, Em is on the rise.
During some negative press in the last few weeks, Em stayed defiant, releasing a comment on her Facebook page, that has since been taken down.
“Guys, thank you for your concern over the hatchet job some of the Sydney media are attempting on me,” she wrote.
“But this time last year I was burying my son. If I can survive that, I can certainly get through this.”
Last year, Em suffered a miscarriage when she was 13 weeks pregnant. On what would have been her son Ray’s first birthday, the performer shared a post to her 270k followers.
It’s been one year since we lost Ray.Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about him; stolen milestones pass us…
The 39-year-old was backed by her former boss, ex-Content Producer for Austereo, Craig Bruce in a recent interview.
“When she finished up in Perth [where she hosted the 92.9 FM breakfast show from 2006 to 2009] she came back to Melbourne and what she’s done from that period to now, she’s just completely created a brand out of grit and hard work and obvious talent,” he said in an interview with News.com.au.
“She’s a solo performer and her career up until a year and a half ago [when she went back to radio] was all off her own bat.”
