Elizabeth Hurley has spoken out about a court decision to cut off her son Damian from a share of his grandfather's fortune, labelling the move as "callous".

The UK star said it went against Damian's his late father would have wanted, telling the Daily Mail her former partner, Steve Bing, had believed both of his children were financially secure before his death in 2020.

Damian had won a court battle to ensure they would receive money held in trust funds, but Bing's father, Dr. Peter Bing, has since successfully appealed the decision.

"[Stephen] died thinking his children were going to be taken care of," the 56-year-old Austin Powers star said.

"What Stephen wanted has now been callously reversed. I know Stephen would have been devastated."

Born 'out of wedlock'

In the wake of the latest legal decision, neither Damian nor his half-sister Kira Kerkorian — whose mother is tennis player Lisa Bonder — will receive any money on account of them both being born out of wedlock.

Their grandfather's fortune, thought to be worth $330M, will instead be shared between the two children of Bing's sister Mary, who were born within a marriage.

Liz added: "Stephen fought very hard in his last year to have his children recognised and repeatedly told me how incredibly important this was to him.

"He was happy beyond belief that the trial verdict ruled that Damian was to be treated like his sister’s children as far as the trust was concerned.

"I am just relieved that Stephen will never know that Damian’s relatives — Stephen’s father and the family of his sister Mary — were ultimately successful in their appeal against the original trial verdict."

Damien has also since broken his silence on social media, sharing a family photo on his Instagram.

"Grateful for my beautiful family, today and every day," he captained the image.

Liz Hurley paid tribute to Bing following his death and said she was "very grateful" that they had been on good terms before he passed away.

Marking the anniversary of his father's death last month, Damian — now an actor and model — wrote on Instagram that he didn't realise when he first received the "devastating" news how much it would affect him.

"We all like to show ‘perfect’ versions of our lives. For me, the idea of publicly discussing something as personal as grief is terrifying... but sometimes it’s necessary.

"The last year has been bloody hard — for everyone on the planet — and I think acknowledging that is vital. It’s not weak to struggle. In fact, to get through to the other side is immensely strong."

The Hollywood film producer died in Los Angeles in June 2020.

Liz and Steve had a brief relationship following the Bedazzled star’s split from fellow actor Hugh Grant in 2000.

While Steve and Liz share a son together, it’s believed Damian and Steve weren't close and the producer had minimal involvement in his son's life.

At first, Steve denied that he was Damian’s father but a DNA test proved otherwise and he was forced to pay child support, eventually mending their relationship.

Steve pursued a career in Hollywood after inheriting $600 million from his grandfather with his first big budget hit as executive producer coming in 2000 with Get Carter.
