There’s nothing like sitting outside on a warm night, whether it’s a backyard patio or a cottage deck, making memories and sharing laughs with friends and family. That is, until the bugs come out.
Pesky flies, black flies and mosquitos can put a damper on some of your favourite summer activities - and leave you scratching bug bites as a souvenir. Luckily, after years chasing flies around the house with a rubber fly-swatter and lighting citronella candles, there are helpful gadgets, like Night Cat's Bug Zapper Racket, that makes getting rid of bugs easier than ever.
SHOP IT: Amazon, $24
What is it?
Night Cat's Bug Zapper Racket is a rechargeable electric fly swatter with 3,000 watts of output voltage that kills bugs with ease. The racket features three layers of mesh to trap bugs and prevent unwanted zapping of your fingers while in use.
Each racket features LED lighting to help attract bugs when in use and a built-in built-in 18650 Li-battery that can easily be recharged when not in use.
What people are saying
The Night Cat Bug Zapper currently has more than 700 five star customer ratings on Amazon from shoppers who recommend having a racket on hand for spring and summer.
"This device has been awesome at putting an end to the fruit fly menace at home," one shopper wrote. "Fly zapping feels very 'Star Wars' like. Also, it feels like a well built solid device. Overall good quality; good experience so far."
"This racket is extremely powerful. It kills wasps instantly on contact which is awesome," another said. "I also like that it's rechargeable instead of using alkaline batteries. Bonus that it comes in different colours (our girls love that they got to pick pink). Highly recommended."
Although a majority of the reviews are overwhelmingly positive, some shoppers have warned that the "zap" power of the racket can be a little alarming at first.
"Good fun though larger flies take a few zaps and you can’t swing it fast like the thin swatters since it would cause damage if you hit something," one cautioned. "Oh yes, burning flies smell so be warned!"
While arming the kids with a fly swatter is an easy way to keep them occupied, it's inefficient and can often lead to cleaning up after certain bugs have met their fate.
A bug zapper racket is an easy way to get rid of flies, bees and more this summer to make your outdoor (and indoor) time more enjoyable.
