Eddie Boxshall has been dating Denise Van Outen for seven years now, however, he really wishes she would flirt more with him.

Speaking on their podcast, Before We Say I Do, Boxshall was commenting on Van Outen’s remark that she flirts with everyone at work.

“I know you do - that's what gives me the hump!” he exclaimed.

“Start chucking a bit in my direction!”

The pair were talking about flirting in relationships before attending a psychosexual therapy session on the podcast. Each episode, they explore different therapies as kind of a pre-marriage prep.

For Van Outen, who was the ‘face’ of the ‘90s ladette culture, flirting is just second nature to her – and something her partner doesn’t need to be worried about.

“I'm quite naturally a flirty person, but it's for me, it's flanter – flirty banter,” she said.

“I don't mean anything by it, but I'm just naturally a flirty person!”

In the past, while on the Loose Women panel, Van Outen spoke out about how she allows Boxshall her phone password so he can monitor her flirty texts with male pals.

She revealed: "If I have flirty banter or something... Because I've got a lot of male friends, and because I've got quite a male sense of humour, he knows it's banter. I'm like, 'you can look whenever you want to!' But I don't have his passcode!”

The couple who admits that flirting has gone by the wayside in their relationship, were asked to take part in a bridging exercise by therapist Cate Mackenzie.

Bridging is a communication method which slows two people down and helps to create a deep connection. It involves listening and asking questions to allow each partner to open up to one another.

As part of the exercise, the Celebrity Gogglebox pair were instructed to hold hands and give each other the once over to rediscover those things they loved about one another.

For Boxshall, it was Van Outen’s eyes, while Van Outen had her ‘beautiful eyes’ on something very different.

“He's got a full head of hair!” she exclaimed, as Boxshall invited her to run her fingers through it more often!

She continued: “You have beautiful hair. You have got beautiful, amazing bone structure. I like your eyes, but I prefer you with glasses. I do think you look sexy in glasses. I've always said it - you can rock a pair of glasses, like no other man I've ever met!”

After the session, the couple both agreed that they were going to start flirting with each other and trading compliments a little bit more.

“I thought it was a really good session,” said Van Outen.

She continued: “I feel you don't compliment me very much - I know you think you do - but I honestly do feel like that. When I speak to other people, like your brother or someone, it sounds like you compliment me a lot, but you don't always say it to me.

“I think that's what happens in a lot of relationships - that's not your fault or my fault... But actually, to sit down and do that makes you appreciate each other more.”
