Ed Sheeran Surprises Jogger With Impromptu Serenade: 'Maybe This Is My Sign to Start Running'

If anyone wasn't already in love with Ed Sheeran, they probably are after seeing his latest Instagram post.

On Tuesday, Sept. 17, the English singer-songwriter shared footage of the moment one lucky fan was out for a run and Sheeran, 33, gave them the surprise of a lifetime.

As seen in the now-viral clip, the "Thinking Out Loud" singer filmed a video while floating in a boat down a canal when he noticed a runner jogging on the land nearby.

"Hi!" he said while waving to the runner, before asking, "Any requests?"

The runner, since identified as a woman named Nikki Adkins, replied, "Can you do 'Tenerife Sea?'"—and Sheeran happily obliged.

With his guitar already in hand, Sheeran instantly began playing the sweet song and singing it to Adkins, who took out her phone to record the once-in-a-lifetime interaction.

At the end of the song, Sheeran yelled out, "Have a good rest of your run," but his fans on social media would have been surprised if Adkins could focus on exercise at all after an encounter like that.

"I commend you for not running right into the canal 🤣👏🏻," one person wrote to Adkins, while another person in the comments told Sheeran, "I would have tripped over my own feet to see you randomly floating by on a boat 😂."

"Maybe this is my sign to start running," someone else chimed in.

In his caption, the "Perfect" crooner nonchalantly wrote, "Was filming a video on the canal today, played a request. If anyone knows the runner lemme know so we can have their POV video for the lols."

Adkins followed up shortly afterward, sharing the video from her perspective on her Instagram Stories, along with a message for Sheeran that read, "This was so unexpected and so so beautiful. Thank you thank you."

"This is why we run girls," she further quipped.

Even though tons of Sheeran's fans were envious that their own runs aren't usually as eventful, users on Instagram couldn't deny how wholesome the clip was.

"This is one of the sweetest things I've ever seen," one person commented.

Another user called it, "The best video on the internet today."
