Elderly man sends the sweetest letter after buying VHS from Ebay

There are plenty of us who have probably experienced a moment where we’ve found an old mix-tape, CD, or old videos lying around the house and have no way of working out what is on them because, well, technology has moved on.

The exact same thing happened to this 86-year-old, who has written the sweetest note to thank sellers on Ebay for supplying him with a VHS player to watch old videos.

The retiree said he had found many old VHS tapes recently and wanted to see what was on them but realised he didn’t have a VHS player anymore.

Thus came his first ever visit to Ebay, where he was able to find a player for sale.

He was so amazed after receiving the nearly new and ‘unused’ player, that he decided to write a thank you letter to the sellers.

“I am 86 and perhaps not up to my game but I do get there eventually. And I did, and discovered the VHS works perfectly,” he wrote in the note, which has since been shared online.

“Thank you so much for your care, your efforts and your promptness.”

He said the tapes he was able to watch, were of his retirement party 25 years ago (where he mused at how ‘young’ they all were) his wedding (with friends and family no longer with him), as well as holidays with his family.

“Each one more fun than the last. All thanks to your generous selling of the VHS player,” he wrote.

“I thought you would appreciate how much someone has enjoyed your offer.”

The letter struck at the hearts of many, amassing hundreds of thousands of likes on Twitter.
