‘DWTS’ Pro Daniella Karagach Details ‘Excruciating’ Experience in New Health Update: ‘I Can’t Believe This Happened to Me’

Dancing with the Stars pro Daniella Karagach has broken her silence, opening up about her 2022 miscarriage for the first time to Good Morning America.

"I woke up from excruciating pain," the dancer said in the interview, an excerpt of which was posted to Instagram. "I woke up Pasha. And I was like, 'I don't think this is good.'"

"I just remember, one day I was pregnant, and then the next day I wasn't," Daniella, 31, recalled. "And I took the test and it was negative. And I just remember falling to the floor. Like, 'I can't believe this happened to me.' It was a time in my life where I was in my lowest of lows."

Though it was unimaginable pain to live through the emotional, mental, and physical weight of a miscarriage, there is one person that Daniella credits with keeping her above water. That would be fellow DWTS pro and husband of ten years Pasha Pashkov.

"Pasha was literally my saving grace," she says. "It was something we've wanted and pictured ourselves. And the moment I took that pregnancy test and I saw I was pregnant, I was picturing what clothes I'm gonna get, what I'm gonna do, what stroller I'm gonna buy. So everything kind of just went blank. We were going through it together. And I just remember every day we were just holding each other and just taking each other out of it."

The miscarriage is obviously an incredibly sensitive experience to open up about. That's even more so for someone like Daniella, who is currently in the throes of a DWTS competition, partnered with NBA star Dwight Howard. But, as she talks about in the interview, there's one big reason why she decided to be so public and open about what she underwent.

"I think grieving on your own is so, so difficult," she explains. "So when I was looking for comfort, I saw YouTube videos of different women talking about how they're going through the same thing I'm going through. I wanted to share my story because I want people to know they're not alone. There's way more people going through it than people think. A lot of them just don't come out and say anything. And you know what? You don't have to. You don't have to say anything. But just know that you're not alone, it's not your fault."

Daniella then went on to highlight her daughter, Nikita Sofia Pashkova, who was born in May 2023. She calls her "literally the best thing that's ever happened" and remarks on how she and Pasha occasionally reflect on their journey, and how their tragedy in 2022 was followed up by absolute triumph a year later.
