Yahoo Lifestyle Duchess of Cornwall turns 73: How well do you know Camilla, the future Queen consort?
The Duchess of Cornwall is celebrating her 73rd birthday on Friday, in what is likely to be another quiet lockdown royal occasion.
Camilla and her husband Prince Charles spent much of lockdown in Birkhall, their Scottish home on the Balmoral estate, but they are now back in England carrying out engagements across the country.
Having entered the Royal Family in difficult circumstances, Camilla has quietly cemented her place as an essential working member, carrying out hundreds of engagements every year.
In recent months, she has particularly focussed her royal work on tackling domestic abuse, encouraging victims to speak out and break the taboo survivors face.
She became patron of SafeLives, a charity she has worked with for years, during lockdown and has talked about her fears of how many victims of abuse there will be by the end of the pandemic.
Camilla is also an avid reader and passionate about literacy, as well as a keen supporter of the arts. Other passions and hobbies include fishing, gardening and walking.
Born in London in 1947, Camilla grew up in East Sussex with a younger sister, Annabel and a younger brother, Mark. He died in 2014, after a fall in New York.
Camilla named his book, Travels on My Elephant, in a list of her favourites at the beginning of lockdown. She said it “always brings a tear to my eye”.
She has two children, Laura Lopes, and Tom Parker-Bowles, a well-known food critic, from her first marriage to Andrew Parker-Bowles, which ended in 1995.
She has five grandchildren, who she has talked about missing during lockdown, and the problems of seeing them without being allowed to hug them.
Camilla currently uses the title Duchess of Cornwall, because of the association of Princess of Wales with its former holder, the late Princess Diana.

Clarence House said in March that she will be known as princess consort when the Queen dies and Charles accedes to the throne. The decision was made when they married, and a spokesman said there was no change.
While she can choose to be known as something else, the wife of a king is technically the Queen Consort.
