Dominic West’s marriage ‘as good as over’ after kissing scandal

Dominic West’s marriage to Catherine FitzGerald is “as good as over” after he was spotted getting cozy with co-star Lily James in Rome last month.

Despite the couple putting on a united front after the kissing scandal four weeks ago, the actor has apparently confessed to “having feelings” for his 31-year-old co-star, and Catherine wants to leave.

“Catherine has told those closest to her that Dominic has admitted having feelings for Lily,” a friend told The Sun.

“At first it seemed as though the whole thing was just a one-off but Catherine has since said it’s become obvious it was more than that.”

The friend said Catherine was “crushed” and has reportedly told her friends “she doesn’t think there is a way past this”.

Back in October, pictures emerged of The Affair star, 51, and the Downton Abbey actress looking very close while in Rome, with reports the snaps left his wife and mother of his four children ‘devastated’.

Dominic and Catherine then fronted photographers outside their home in Wiltshire, as Dominic returned from his sun-soaked Italian stay, and posed for the gathered press, holding hands and kissing.

“I just want to say our marriage is strong and we are very much still together,” the actor told reporters.

However, just days later, it was reported Catherine FitzGerald was in crisis talks with her family over her marriage.

A source told The Sun Catherine had fled to her home in Ireland, where she’s talking things through with her sisters, Nesta and Honor, as she’s reportedly “struggling to come to a decision about whether she and Dominic can go back to how they were”.

“She has been left feeling humiliated by Dominic’s actions,” the source added.

According to the Daily Mail, Catherine is now ready to leave the star and return to Ireland.

“Catherine is still mad about Dominic but it's plainly not working,” a friend told the publication. “She's been humiliated. Painful as it is, this looks like it could be the time to leave him.”

Dominic and Catherine met as students at Trinity College Dublin. They rekindled their romance several years later and have four children together – daughters Dora, 14, and Christabel, seven, and sons Senan, 12 and Francis, 11.

They married in 2010 and split their time between their homes in England and FitzGerald’s family home Glin Castle in Ireland.
