A couple has gone viral for their heartwarming, and seriously impressive, proposal after the fiancé spent six months turning Disney classic Sleeping Beauty into the most ingenious proposal stunt we’ve ever seen.

The man in question, Lee Loechler, spent six months having himself and girlfriend Sthuthi David animated into Sleeping Beauty as a creative way of popping the question.

After filling a movie theatre with friends, family, and kind-hearted Reddit users who were in on Lee’s plan, the would-be Prince Phillip reworked the romantic kissing scene into a proposal scene, complete with ring.

All of this, of course, was done without the soon to be fiancée’s knowledge, who was floored both by the proposal and the family and friends she suddenly noticed were sitting around her.

As an animated Lee got down on one knee, so did the real Lee to the delight, and confusion, of Sthuthi.

“I love you with my whole heart, including all of its ventricles, atriums, valves,” he says, adding, “she’s a cardiologist.”

“Sthuthi David, MD, will you live happily ever after with me?” he asks.

The proposal was thankfully accepted, and the bar for original engagements set at a historical high.

A Reddit proposal

Lee posted the video to Reddit where it quickly went viral, and it turns out he has been using the platform to plot out the plan for months.

“Seeking random internet strangers to help fill a small theatre, where I will surprise propose to my girlfriend,” Lee wrote on Reddit one month ago, explaining his plans for the proposal in detail.

“On (December 30th), I plan to propose to her during a screening of her favourite movie. Sprinkled into the audience, hidden, will be our friends and family - to surprise her and celebrate afterwards.”

The plan successful, the duo are now riding the wave of internet fame.

The video has clocked over 6 million views on YouTube and sparked commentary all over the globe, with over 100k users commenting on the Reddit thread, sharing the tale.

As if this story couldn’t get any more wholesome, the animator behind the genius move is Aussie Kayla Coombs, who is currently donating all profits from her book to the bushfire relief effort.

“I usually hate these things but you did it right, particularly having friends and family there. Well done!” one person wrote.

“12/10 on (the) thoughtful scale. You're a hell of a catch, fella,” another agreed.

“This is so cute that I’m absolutely seething with anger,” was another’s slightly confused reaction.

Perhaps the best reaction of all came from the bride-to-be, who after accepting Lee’s proposal, summed it up perfectly.

“That was so good!” she said.

“The only thing better than seeing the smartest person I know completely dumbfounded was knowing we’d get to live happily ever after together,” he wrote in the Instagram post sharing the video.

I’m not crying you are.
