Did Sean 'Diddy' Combs Poison Jamie Foxx? Your Guide to the Bizarre Rumor
Jamie Foxx will addressed his 2023 health scare in his Netflix comedy special, What Had Happened Was, and cleared up rumors that Sean “Diddy” Combs was somehow involved in the life-threatening crisis.
Huh?
For the utterly confused, here's an explainer.
Did Sean 'Diddy' Combs poison Jamie Foxx?
No. Foxx dispelled the rumor in his special, What Had Happened Was.
"The internet said that Puffy tried to kill me," Foxx said. "I know what you're thinking ... Diddy?"
"Hell no, I left them parties early," he continued, referring to Diddy's alleged freakoffs. "I was out by 9. 'Something don't look right, it's slippery in here."
Why did people think Sean 'Diddy' Combs poisoned Jamie Foxx?
Rumors!
There was no proof that Diddy, who has been in jail since September on federal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, poisoned Foxx. (After being charged with sex trafficking and racketeering, Diddy has continuously maintained his innocence.)
The strange rumor came from eyewitnesses who claimed to have attended October tapings of Foxx's Netflix special, which was shot over three nights in Atlanta.
Producer Arthur Alston a.k.a. "Choke No Joke" said he attended two of Foxx’s three shows and claimed to Comedy Hype (via Page Six) that Foxx implicated Diddy in the set. Per Alston, Foxx allegedly said that "Diddy was responsible for what happened to him." Furthermore, he claimed that Foxx admitted to calling the FBI on the "I'll Be Missing You" singer.
“I don't think he was joking,” Alston said, further claiming that Combs allegedly poisoned Foxx, or perhaps physically beat him, after the Ray actor was caught filming Combs in a presumably compromising light.
“[Foxx] disappeared, right?" Alston said, insinuating that the actor had retreated because he was afraid of Diddy. "He out now, soon as Puff went to jail, right? We see him at the game with [Dallas Cowboys owner] Jerry Jones, right? … We haven’t seen him. As soon as Puff went to jail, [Foxx] was at the godd--n Dallas football game, right? And now he just went and shot his special. And who’s the special strongly based around? Diddy."
A celebrity security guard known as “Big Homie CC,” who also claims to have attended two of the shows, went on record saying Foxx allegedly revealed on stage that Combs drugged him.
In a statement to AllHipHop, Diddy's team called the rumors “outlandish, ridiculous and baseless."
And now that the special is out, we know their stories don't hold water.
What Had Happened Was is now available to stream on Netflix.
