Keen listeners pointed out that a joke made by The Late Late Show host was extremely similar to one from Ricky Gervais' stand-up show, Humanity.
- Did James Corden steal Ricky Gervais' joke? In a monologue on "The Late Late Show," James Corden addressed Elon Musk's Twitter takeover. Keen listeners pointed out that a joke made was extremely similar to one from Ricky Gervais' stand-up show, "Humanity."
JAMES CORDEN: In a town square that says, guitar lessons available--
RICKY GERVAIS: That's like going into a town square, seeing a big noticeboard. And there's a notice, guitar lessons.
JAMES CORDEN: But you don't get people in the town go, I don't want to play the guitar.
RICKY GERVAIS: And you go, but I don't fucking want guitar lessons.
- James Corden has since claimed he inadvertently told a brilliant Ricky Gervais joke and did not know it came from him. In a now deleted tweet, Ricky Gervais said one of Corden's writers probably came up with it for him, and added, I doubt he would knowingly just copy such a famous stand-up routine word for word like that. What do you think?
