Dick Van Dyke is gearing up for a one-of-kind birthday bash!
On Thursday, CBS announced its upcoming Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic special, which will look back at the legendary career of the star in honor of his 98th birthday.
“I started with CBS under contract in 1955 with the CBS morning show, then The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis Murder,” Van Dyke said in a statement. “I’ve been with the CBS family for almost 70 years, and I couldn’t be prouder.”
“I’m incredibly honored that CBS will be throwing a 98th birthday special for me,” he added. “Can’t wait to be part of the show!”
The four-time Emmy winner will celebrate his milestone birthday on Dec. 13 and the show is set to air days later on Dec. 21.
The two-hour special “will travel back in time to the iconic set of The Dick Van Dyke Show and feature dazzling music and dance spectacles, heartfelt performances, special guests and a magical holiday number,” according to a press release from the network.

The broadcast will also feature songs and archival footage from Van Dyke’s legendary career including Mary Poppins, Bye Bye Birdie and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
In 2021, Van Dyke told Today that he doesn’t see himself slowing down anytime soon, saying, “I don’t think I’ll ever retire, unless they made me. It’s too much fun! It’s such a good life.”
Since then, the veteran entertainer competed on season 9 of The Masked Singer in February and made his soap opera debut as a guest star on Days of Our Lives.
The Mary Poppins star — who married Arlene Silver, 52, in 2012 — credited a few different reasons he's stayed young at heart.
"Genes, I guess, for one thing," Van Dyke told Yahoo! Entertainment in February. "Having a beautiful young wife half my age to take care of me — that works! My positive attitude, I get that from my wife."
The entertainer also noted that he enjoys staying active, saying, "I wrote a book called Keep Moving. I still go to the gym three days a week and work out.”
"And I advise everybody to do that, because that's what ages people — it's just a stiffening up and not exercising their muscles and their lungs. Exercise is the answer," he added.
