‘Dexter: Original Sin’ Trailer: Patrick Gibson Gives Into Killer Urges With Michael C. Hall as His Inner Voice

One of television’s most famous serial killers is back in the trailer for “Dexter: Original Sin,” a prequel show starring Patrick Gibson as a young Dexter.

The 10-episode drama series premieres Dec. 13 on streaming and on demand for Paramount+ With Showtime subscribers. It will make its on-air debut in the U.S. on Dec. 15 at 10 p.m.

Set in 1991 Miami, “Original Sin” follows Dexter as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. Per the synopsis, “When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Christian Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar.” To make things trickier, Dexter must balance his extralegal affairs with a new forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.

Michael C. Hall, who played Dexter in the original Showtime series, which ran from 2006 to 2013, returns as Dexter’s inner voice. The cast also includes Molly Brown, Christina Milian, James Martinez, Alex Shimizu, Reno Wilson, special guest star Sarah Michelle Gellar and Patrick Dempsey.

Executive producers are Clyde Phillips, Scott Reynolds, Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez and Lilly Burns, while Robert Lloyd Lewis serves as producer. Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios also produce. Michael Lehmann is the directing executive producer. Gary Levine and Urooj Sharif are creatively overseeing the series for Showtime Studios, with Tara Power supervising the production.
