Delta Goodrem's subtle dig three days after The Voice finale
Diana Rouvas may have won The Voice Australia on Sunday night, but runner-up Daniel Shaw is already climbing up the charts, and his coach Delta Goodrem won’t let Australia miss it.
Taking to Instagram on Wednesday, the 34-year-old singer informed her fans that Daniel’s Cross the Line EP was already at number eight on the iTunes charts.
“The music speaks,” she wrote next to a screenshot showing her contestant’s impressive result, before adding, “Continues to stay top 10”.
Delta went on to give another contestant a shoutout – Kim Sheehy from Guy Sebastian’s team, who was sitting at 25.
“And while we’re at it do yourself a favor and listen to @kimsheehymusic one of my favourite versions of a song ever in life! It’s beyond!!! Like beyond!” she wrote.
While Daniel has since climbed up to number 3 on the iTunes Australia album charts, The Voice winner Diana has actually fallen down 36 places in the songs chart, sitting at 77 with Wait For No One.
It’s a disappointing result for the Boy George team member, who following her victory responded to furious viewers’ claims that the grand finale voting was rigged.
She said she took out the winner’s crown fair and square, and won’t let the critics steal her moment of glory.
“I just ignore it,” the 35-year-old told Yahoo Lifestyle. “People are going to talk, that’s the business we’re in.”
Diana said both she and her celeb coach initially struggled to grapple with the victory when host Sonia Kruger announced her name over Team Delta runner-up Daniel Shaw’s.
“I was in shock. Both George and I had a little F-bomb moment there,” she admitted. “He was incredibly and genuinely happy.”
