A food delivery driver is sharing his response to receiving a $1 tip for a full hour of work.
The heartbreaking video, seemingly taken right after the order was delivered, is going viral on TikTok. It’s the latest of many clips to raise a debate about the importance of tipping.
In early 2021, an Uber Eats driver filmed a painful, tear-laden video after an order gone wrong. A few weeks later, a Domino’s employee shared their response to a similar experience. Months later, a woman went viral after revealing how much she tipped her Postmates driver, who had gotten in a car crash en route to her home.
“You know, I wish people knew what it was like to deliver for Uber Eats, Postmates, DoorDash,” he says. “I just spent an hour driving around for a $1.19 tip.”
“I mean, would it hurt to tip us? To throw us $5?” he adds.
In his video, @deliveryguy100 does not specify which delivery app he works for, or if he works for several. What he does explain is how little he can make on the job.
The TikToker goes on to claim that in addition to his $1 tip, he made $2 from the delivery app. As he puts it, that’s not even enough to cover gas.

“How am I supposed to survive like that?” he asks. “I just wish people knew what it was like. I wish they understood.”
TikTok users swarmed to the comments section, mostly to share support for @deliveryguy100.
“Say it with me: PEOPLE DESERVE LIVABLE WAGES AND DON’T ORDER IF YOU CAN’T TIP,” one user wrote.
Others wrote that they’d sent @deliveryguy100 a few dollars to help out. The TikToker keeps both his Venmo and Cash App usernames in his bio.
Although most seemed sympathetic to @deliveryguy100’s situation, many disagreed on who to blame.
“Blame the food services,” one user wrote. “They charge mad fees but at the end still want us to tip $10? I’m sorry, but no.”
