If you sometimes find yourself scrolling through your Instagram feed and wondering, how on earth do they do it? One influencer has revealed it is all angles and lighting.
Fitness blogger Danae Mercer is lifting the lid on the reality behind the ‘perfect’ Insta snap, one bikini shot at a time - and honestly it’s the breathe of fresh air we all need.
“LETS talk LIGHTING. Because that’s the main difference in these photos,” Dubai-based Danae captioned this recent photo, showing her posing in a tan swimsuit.
“In one, my bum is deliberately angled into the shadows. The softer light hides my cellulite and smooths most of my stretchmarks. It’s flattering.
“In the other, I’m just casually squatting (lol) beside the mirror. My hips and thighs are in the sunlight. Lumps and bumps are on show.”
The former journalist also revealed to her 750k followers that when she worked in magazines, photoshoots were always done at sunrise or sunset.
“On most sets, there were people holding SUN DIFFUSERS and REFLECTORS to help create the perfect FLATTERING balance of shadow and light,” she added.
Danae also recently shared this eye-opening video titled ‘How Influencers take bootie pics’, and to be honest it sounds like way to much effort.
“SOCIAL MEDIA is NOT REAL,” she captioned the clip. “Seriously. It’s not. Look how much my bumbum transforms just by how I’m standing.”
Danae's followers flooded the comments, thanking her for her honesty and realness.
“Love this so much! I’m definitely guilty of knowing my ‘flattering’ poses and only doing those, so I try to be sure to show the more raw photos as well,” one person admitted.
“Gosh darn it I love you woman!!! I wish your page and posts were a mandatory class you had to take in high school,” another praised.
While a third wrote: “Thank You. Just thank You. I could repost every single picture from your timeline.”
