Dakota Johnson Is Wearing Her Engagement Ring Again After Rumors That She and Chris Martin Broke Up
An insider says that "things are great" between the two.
Last week, rumors were swirling about a potential breakup between Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin, but the actress is setting the record straight in a demure and mindful way. On Friday, the actress was spotted out and about with friends—one of whom was good pal Jeremy Allen White—while wearing her emerald engagement ring from Martin. In images obtained by People, Johnson held up her left hand, flashing the colored stone (along with a red manicure).
After a rep for the actress confirmed to the outlet that the two are still "happily together," another source added that the couple is "happy and together."
"Their relationship works because they are both very independent and actually have lives outside of their relationship too," the insider told People. "It's like every time they are not spotted together for a while, there are breakup rumors."
The insider went on to say that Johnson and Martin have taken time apart in the past but are solid at this moment in time. "Sure, they've had issues and taken breaks in the past, but things are great now," they continued. "They both love their careers. They are balancing things the best they can."
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that the two had gone their separate ways after Johnson was spotted on a walk without her ring.
"Chris and Dakota have tried desperately hard over the past few months to make their relationship work," a source previously told the outlet. "They’ll always have love for each other but they’ve both come to the conclusion the relationship cannot be sustained long-term."
Johnson and Martin first linked back in 2017 following his divorce—or "conscious uncoupling"—from Gwyneth Paltrow. A source confirmed to People earlier this year that they "got engaged years ago but were in no rush to get married."
