'She grew angel wings': Dad 'devastated' over daughter’s hot-car death

The father of a young girl who died after she was allegedly left in a hot car in Queensland is grieving as she leaves behind three older sisters.

Rylee Rose Black was rushed to hospital on Friday by her mother and her mother’s boyfriend after she was allegedly left in a car in Townsville as temperatures soared.

An online fundraising page has been set up to support the “devastated” dad who was described as a devoted father following the tragic death of the three-year-old.

“Dear little Rylee Rose grew her angel wings on Friday 27th November, 2020. She leaves behind her loving, devoted and devastated father Pete and her three older sisters,” the GoFundMe page reads.

“No one should experience a loss like this.”

At the time of writing, in the first 24 hours the GoFundMe page had received nearly $4000 in donations towards a $15,000 target.

“We are seeking your support to help this loving family get through this tragic time,” it says.

“Heartfelt thanks for your donation and words of comfort at this time.”

Toddler rushed to hospital, but she couldn’t be saved

Mother Laura Peverill, 37, and her 29-year-old boyfriend Aaron Hill allegedly took Rylee to Townsville University Hospital on Friday afternoon, but she couldn’t be saved.

Police were called to the hospital and were allegedly told the mum had found the girl dead in the car.

The pair were charged with manslaughter. Both were granted bail when the matter was heard before Townsville Magistrates Court on Monday.

Police had opposed bail for Peverill and Hill due to the seriousness of the offences. They are expected to appear in court again on February 23.

“Preliminary investigations indicate the young child was left inside a locked vehicle for most of the day,” Queensland Police said in a statement on Friday.

"Unfortunately, (this was) a very preventable and unfortunate tragedy," Detective Senior Sergeant Dave Miles told reporters, according to AAP.

"The charge manslaughter indicates that there's been negligence on the part of people responsible for this child's health and wellbeing."

The temperature in Townsville reached 31C on Friday.

The older three sisters are now in the care of their father as tributes flowed online for the “little angel”, the Townsville Bulletin reported.
