Dachshund's Hilarious Quest for Kibble Takes Determination to New Heights
When hunger strikes, there's nothing a dog won't do to get some chow. Just ask little Luna the Dachshund, who made it her mission to get a little—actually, a lot—of kibble in a pretty unusual way.
In an adorable post shared to Instagram by Kate Venables (@cootsateversden_), the Dachshund shows off her special talents of getting into the food container while the other pups watch on. Watch her go!
"Now don’t be fooled by this exquisite little Kaninchen girl!" the caption begins. "The determination and power of this small and mighty girl is undeniably incredible! Wow do we love her!"
In the brief clip, little Luna is headfirst into the dog food container, fully inside, as the other Dachshunds siblings gather around. She takes the opportunity to get as much food as possible, naturally. It seems as though the others are trying to figure out how the heck she got in there in the first place!
"Um, excuse me, what's going on?" Mom asks the pups. "Oh. I see. How cheeky. What's going on?"
Described in another post as a "perfect Kaninchen Longhaired sausage with a confident loving personality," it's clear Luna fits the bill.
"What a naughty yet clever little one! I have to admire her audacity! Very Dachshund-ish!" one person commented.
"Omg, cuteness overload! I’ll take them all!!" another wrote.
"It’s always the Dapples!" another joked.
Now that Luna figured out how to get extra nibbles, the others can't be far behind!

What Is a Kaninchen Dachshund?
Though all Dachshunds are instantly recognizable by their long "sausage-like" bodies and short stubby legs, there are a few variations of the breed. Luna is a Kaninchen Dachshund, which is German for "Rabbit Dachshund." This is because they were originally bred to hunt rabbits, thanks to the strength of their noses.
Likewise, "Dachshund" means "badger dog," which correlates to how they hunted underground. They've since evolved and are now bred in three different sizes including Teckel, Miniature Teckel and Rabbit Teckel, with three different coat types, smooth-haired, wire-haired and long-haired.
No matter the type of Dachshund, this breed is known to have a big personality and a friendly temperament. They can be sassy, but they're generally devoted little watchdogs who'll bring all sorts of hilarity to any room they enter. Most of all, they're incredible intelligence is what got Luna in that food bin in the first place! She'll figure somewhere else to show off her skills in no time!
