There has been a major shift in consumers shopping cruelty-free products, which do not test on animals, whether it is cleaning products or beauty and skincare alternatives.

In over the last year Google Trends has seen a spike in searches for cruelty free, cruelty free make-up and cruelty free brands, including questions on whether specific brands do not test on animals.

Cruelty Free International - the body who approve cruelty free brands with the recognised gold standard under the Leaping Bunny programme - has revealed 1 in 3 women prefer to buy products that do not test on animals.

Discussing the process to certify a brand, Cruelty Free International says: “Cruelty Free International Leaping Bunny approval is the globally recognisable gold standard for cruelty free products.

“In order to obtain and maintain Leaping Bunny approval, a brand must demonstrate that it operates a fixed cut-off date and makes thorough checks of its entire supply chain right down to raw materials and ingredients and involving all suppliers.

“Leaping Bunny brands must also agree to regular independent audits to show continued compliance with Leaping Bunny criteria.”

What brands are cruelty free?
