Couple's $130k 'tone-deaf' gender reveal angers

It's not been a great few days for over the top gender reveals lately with one horrific incident involving fireworks in LA which sparked a huge wildfire over the weekend that has continued to blaze through the San Bernardino National Forest in California.

There have previously been other horrible incidents where guests have been killed or injured as couples attempt to go bigger and bigger with their gender reveals.

However, these incidents didn't stop Syrian-Canadian YouTuber Anas Marwah from attempting the "biggest gender reveal ever" leaving the Internet very unimpressed.

Anas, who lives in Dubai with his wife Aayla and their daughter Mila, decided to light up the world's tallest building the Burj Khalifa to reveal the gender of their second child.

In the video, which has been viewed almost 2 million times on Instagram showed the Burj Khalifa with two lines, one pink and one blue, as they snaked their way to the top of the building.

The couple is seen jumping for joy at the news with Anas holding Mila.

A longer version of the reveal appears on their YouTube channel and has been viewed almost 15 million times.

In the video, Asala says, "We wanted a really unique idea, something that would be memorable."

And it sure was, but not for all the right reasons.

While their many fans have shared messages of congratulations to the couple, social media users are slamming the stunt.

It's believed to have cost the couple 350,000 United Arab Emirates Dirham, which is about $130,000.

One Twitter user slammed the couple, writing, "Some are starving, others are paying $140,000 to light up burj Khalifa for a gender reveal."

Another said, "I usually never comment on how people spend *their* money they have earned, but honestly dropping $140,000 on a 'gender reveal' (not even wedding) to light up the Burj Khalifa while your countrymen starve to death in refugee camps is obscene."

Someone else wrote, "So you're telling me, a couple rented out Burj Khalifa for 95k dollars for THREE MINUTES ONLY for a gender reveal announcement? Yeah... I hate rich people."

"More on the nauseating ridiculousness of gender reveals, I give you this 350,000 Dhms ~ 100K USD gender reveal in Dubai. I am ashamed for them, but it seems they have no shame. I pity the children," another added.

Someone said, "I was gonna make a comment about that burj khalifa gender reveal but it’s so disgusting, tone deaf and full of opportunists that I decided it wasn’t worth my energy."
