Heidi Klum self-isolates after taking ill on America's Got Talent
Supermodel and America’s Got Talent judge Heidi Klum is self-isolating so she does “not infect other people” after falling ill during filming of the show.
German-born Klum was on the judging panel earlier this week alongside Simon Cowell, Howie Mandel, and Sofia Vergara when she started feeling unwell, with symptoms including fever and a cough.
Deciding to stay home with her illness she addressed her 7 million Instagram followers explaining why they wouldn’t be seeing her in the famous AGT chairs.
“Hi everyone, I just wanted you to know why I have not been sitting in my America’s Got Talent seat,” she said in a video clip in her stories.
“It started all with a chill, feeling feverish, cough, runny nose, I’m just not feeling good so that’s why I’ve stayed home to not infect any other people.
“I hope it’s just a cold, I would love to do the corona test but there just isn’t one here. I’ve tried with two different doctors and I just can’t get one.
“Stay safe, everyone. Stay home if you don’t feel good.”
Klum’s message comes shortly after it was announced America’s Got Talent would proceed in production but without the usual live audience.
Fremantle, the production company behind AGT said in a statement on Thursday: “Due to the ongoing global situation around Covid-19, we have been working closely with our production teams and network partners to take measures to help minimise the risk of exposure to our cast, crew and live audiences.
“Effective immediately, we will refrain from filming in front of live audiences for our current productions America’s Got Talent and Family Feud.
“We will continue to closely monitor the situation and determine the appropriate time to resume normal course of business.”
Covid-19 has taken enough of a hold in the US that President Donald Trump has declared a national state of emergency, saying: “No resource will be spared, none whatsoever,” in overcoming the virus.
