Coin Lead Singer Chase Lawrence Announces Band’s Breakup After 'Revelations' About Members

Nashville pop-rock trio Coin is disbanding after lead singer Chase Lawrence alleged he "recently" became "aware of revelations around my bandmates," causing him to distance himself from the other members.

"I believe in accountability and doing what’s right," Lawrence, 33, began in a lengthy statement posted via Instagram on Tuesday, Jan. 28. "Three months ago, I made the decision to move forward without my drummer, and yesterday, I parted ways with my guitarist. Their behaviors directly conflict with my values, and I am devastated for anyone who has been affected by these actions."

Noting that "creating a space for love and joy through music" has always been important to him, Lawrence claimed that "this space has been compromised by the actions of others," calling the alleged discovery "truly heartbreaking."

Lawrence did not share what the "revelations" were. In addition to Lawrence, the band consisted of drummer Ryan Winnen and guitarist Joe Memmel. As of publication, neither have publicly commented on Lawrence's claims.

"Unfortunately, these developments have led me to the decision that COIN can no longer continue as a band," he continued. "To our listeners, I am sorry for the disappointment this may bring. Your support has meant the world to me, and I owe it to you to be honest and decisive in addressing this situation … There’s a lot to figure out about the future, but I know I’m not done making music yet. Thank you for everything."

Followers were quick to comment on the musician's post, with one fan writing, "While this is sad & shocking it's deeply reassuring to see that your morals outweigh your need to maintain something that's become deeply tainted. Coin has provided me with so much joy & comfort over the years and I'm so glad to know that the voice behind the music will stand for what's right when it matters most. Much love to you, Chase, and to anyone affected by this."

Another said, "Really sad I never got to see COIN in person. But Chase, your music has meant a ton to me over the years. I will absolutely be paying attention to whatever is next, wishing you the best."
