The fan-favorite fruit-flavored soda is returning in four varieties made with cane sugar–Mandarina (Mandarin), Manzana (Apple), Piña (Pineapple), and Ponche de Frutas (Fruit Punch)–and will be available in two sizes, a classic 12oz glass bottle and a 1.5L multi-serve bottle.
Barrilitos were first introduced in Monterrey, México, in 1938 and 70 years later, joined the portfolio of Coke brands. While this latest relaunch includes an all-new design, each Barrilitos bottle is still produced and imported from Mexico. And according to a press release, the soda's return is due in part to "the US’ growing demand for nostalgic soft drinks with cultural heritage."

“Barrilitos is evolving to meet the needs of a new generation, without losing sight of its rich history. We’ve infused Barrilitos with a refreshed brand identity while preserving the classic flavors and traditions that have made it a beloved part of Latino households. This relaunch is an invitation to experience Barrilitos and celebrate its heritage in a whole new way,” Barrilitos rep Maria Correa said in a statement.
Those looking to get their hands on a few bottles of the sweet beverage better hope they live in one of two states where Barrilitos are currently available at retailers that carry Coca-Cola products: California and Texas.
That said, if demand elsewhere grows, it's not unlikely that the soda company would be open to reassessing its distribution of the internationally-appreciated products.
